Happy days

LISTEN. It's Star Trek Day AND Hall of Fame Induction Day. 55 Years since I first started following the exploits of Kirk and Spock and Brock and Gibson... And did you see what #55 did in St. Louis last night

Mr. Spock is the best candidate for a segue to today's CoPhi content, I suppose, behind his half-human stoical facade. The enduring epicurean friendship of Pujols and Molina might be another.

Live long and prosper, and seek insight into the conditions of good and happy life. Having and treasuring elective passions of no ultimate consequence is surely one of those. See Bertrand Russell on "impersonal interests" (Conquest of Happiness, ch15)... (continues)

  1. I have recently thought about how deformed and monstrous Spock's human side must have been. It was almost entirely repressed for Spock's entire life. A personality would be damaged unimaginably unable to express itself for especially a Vulcan lifetime which is 3 times or so longer. Imagine if for over 150 years all of your emotions and thoughts were kept inside, trapped in a body which ignored and denied you. Terrifying thought.
