You've danced in the rain, dived off a cliff, planted a native garden and savored other delightful moments.

As I wrote the last time I published a batch of these notes, I've been trying to cultivate more delight in my life as an antidote to what often feels like a torrent of bad news. One way to do that is simply to acknowledge the small joys in our lives, like a glowing full moon, a particularly ripe peach or the perfect, hard-to-capture photo of your pet... nyt

  1. One joy I have that I don’t too often get to experience is enjoying comfortable silence with a close friend or family member. I love existing in the same space as someone, both of us doing our own thing, not needing to fill the silence with conversation to know that the other person cares and is willing to listen. It is lovely.

  2. Some of the things I can come up at this moment is things like a blow of a wind in a hot summer day, a warm cinnamony cup of chai on a cozy autumn day, snacking on Madeleine cookies on a cold winter morning while watching Gilmore Girls and a stranger smiling back at you when you smile. I believe life is made up of snippets of happy moments.

  3. I am still able to engage in the work I was called to do as a sixteen year old, being a Pastor. I have always enjoyed my work and I am grateful for the privilege of being called to that work. It has been a source of many of the great joys of my life.

  4. Another joy is driving through the country with your windows down on a nice evening, playing your favorite music. It’s just sublime.
