This post reminds me of the preface to chapter 6 in our book - "there is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in"
ReplyDeleteI think these are both pretty good metaphors for being able to find the good in all things. It's not always easy, but sometimes, something as small as focusing your attention to the one good thing in a bad situation, no matter how small, can really change your perspective on the situation.
Great comment Flynn! I think oftentimes we forget that life cannot be bad forever. When we are happy I feel like humans just live. We do not constantly think "how long am I going to be happy? Will this last forever? How is my happiness going to escape me this time?" Do not get wrong, people do this when they are happy! I just feel people do it less when happy compared to when they are in a state of negative emotion. Sometimes we just need to accept life is not in the best spot right now, but the light will not escape us forever. Like you said, it is not always easy to get out of darkness, but I feel if we remind ourselves more often that it cannot be dark forever, it would give us some perspective.
