Let's introduce ourselves, fellow Happiness scholars/pursuers. I'm Dr. Oliver, I've been teaching this course in alternate years...
The other day, I walked into class and found that next to the seat that I usually occupy, there was a red cup. It wasn't mine so I left it there, assuming that eventually its rightful owner would come back for it. That day, I had to leave class early to get my bike serviced. When I left the room, a classmate stopped me, telling me that I left my red cup. I told him that it wasn't mine and thanked him for his kindness. That stuck with me for a good bit. That person, who I've never talked to, went out of their way to make sure that I didn't lose something. He walked out of class, mid-lecture, to help another person. Small things like that have a HUGE impact on me and go a long way to helping me believe in my fellow human.
